Quite the day...

Today was a LONG day. I worked until 12:30am and then woke up to head to the Children's Fair at Salmon Creek Hospital. It dawned on me today...that I know people. I also felt so good waking up and being there for something I am passionate about...children's safety. I spent 3 hours in the morning checking car seats...and then went to check with my friends (and 10 U of P students) that I had coordinated working with for the helmet fair. I then bounced over to visit my friends at Pediatric Rehab...I've gotten to know all of them because of the boys..and we share a mutual passion...KIDS! and then met up with my boss who was making finger casts with a few of the U of P students. Then finished up the day at the car seat clinic, met up with my mother in law, and she brought the boys to the fair-they had an absolute blast! And then we all had a late lunch. It was a great end to a great day. It was less crowded than last year..though we know early on we had well over 600 children-and with Vancouver's new helmet law (ALL adults and children must wear a helmet within city limits or face a $50 fine) I know TONS of helmets walked out of there today. It feels good..to know good people who are all working towards a goal no matter how unattainable it seems sometimes....just knowing we are out with the community educating them on safety feels good...even if they can't apply all of it. I usually think of myself as someone who just goes to work and does my job...but on a day like today...where I knew just about everyone there, it felt awesome, comfortable, and fun!:)
