Funny Things Kids Say.....

I have a job, where I run into kids daily...so I hear alot of really cute things, plus...my boys are just overflowing with comments these days. I thought I'd share a few.

"Good Morning Princess Mommy"-Gavin
"I am going to buy you a pretty pink castle for Christmas."-Gavin
"Mommy, can we get a new dog? How'bout a pink girl dog?"-Ian
"I have a baby in my tummy Mommy! Look it's moving"-Gavin
"I'm going to get the ladder, climb up on the roof, and finish those lights!"-Ian
"Mom....red means STOP! You better not do that again Mommy, the policeman will come and give you a ticket and take you to jail. How will we get home?!"-Ian (after turning right on red!)
"I want Santa to come, but I don't want to see him!"-Ian
"I think I will get braces when I am 65..like Daddy did."-Ian
"How close are you to 100, Mommy?"-Ian
"I'm going to marry you Mommy. Where will Daddy sleep?"-Gavin

Thanksgiving week!

Well..due to my job...I did have to work Thanksgiving..which was depressing, but I did work until 1:30am and then up at 5:30am for my shopping extravaganza with Heather & my Mom. My Mom sent a plate with Kev, and I got to see them and the boys....hospital turkey loaf...is just not as good as YOUR MOM'S TURKEY DINNER! Heather and her pretzel salad, did not disappoint...and I was SO excited to see it included on my plate. And, it did not melt due to the chill in the air, those who know me closest know that food touching is something I do not deal well with. (just another quirk!) My close friend Giselle went into labor in the am, we watched her girls Gabby and Kiana until 1pm, and when the boys visited we ran up, and little Nathan Diebler had just been born! He's adorable! Giselle looked amazing...I know I looked like crap after I pushed a baby out, but she looked great! On Friday, I had another meal, with Kev's family..and it was great. Kev had to work, but my nephews Jared, Kyle, Marilyn, Jeff and Kevin's parents were all there with a stop in by Nona (Kev's grandma) and we ate a traditional meal...after I spilt a glass of red wine on myself, the table, and Ian's plate! Certainly sleep deprivation was setting in! ! We played a few games, and just relaxed. Then I went home to finish my painting...I just wanted to be done! That is a task one without sleep should NOT do! I ended up with more paint on myself than on the wall. I laid my foot on the lid, which when I went for my massage with Marilyn and Marge the next day...made for interesting conversation! The therapist said "well, I am certain paintitis is not contagious!" I certainly get the award this weekend for trying to SHOVE as much as I could into a weekend!!! Hope you all got a good laugh! I know I did!!!

Showing off....

So, this is it...my other "home." It is Salmon Creek Hospital, it is a place I am very proud of. I have made it my home, and plan on staying there...for a really long time. I have the job, I believe I was meant to have. God has blessed me with a helpful heart, and with children I have found the perfect fit. Being able to help sick children, children in need, & dying children, has become my "calling." I had no idea more than 8 years ago, that I would end up a Pediatric Emergency Room Nurse, but now that I have...I feel fulfilled. Not that my job is "perfect" or that I love to go everyday, but I just know it is the place for my heart to give to others. I could never imagine my life without it. My heart has been broken, and those close to me know that there are children that I will never forget, children that my heart has been broken for. This is no easy job, painless job, or simple job. Everyday is a challenge to help others, and do it with a loving, open heart is what I try to do. These children whose lives I touch, also touch mine, and I KNOW that I have several little "angels" watching over me! I got to show the hospital off to Heather on Saturday....we had a lot of fun...and I think she had a good time getting a little glimpse into the other part of my life.

Keelin is born!

One of my dearest friends, Amy, who got me through SO much in the past 8 years had a baby girl this morning in Hackensack, New Jersey. She also named it the "girl" name we had picked out for our boys....Keelin. So...I finally have a Keelin in my life, that I get to buy pink dresses for, and she got sent a pair of Mary Janes already, and there will be MORE as she grows. I wish I could have been there to help Amy through this, but the plan is that I will make it back there before mid February to meet my new little friend! Amy had a rough go...breech, high blood pressure, and a crazy work schedule...but now it's over...and I hear that she has a beautiful little baby girl as her reward. My love to you Mitchells!!!

Changes...

For me, change is difficult. I am not someone who does it well, or easily, or without ALOT of thought. I worked only once job from high school to college (GO LUMBERMEN'S!) and have had only 2 nursing jobs...one in Maryland, and one at Legacy. Though to my credit I did move from Emanuel to Salmon Creek for the past 2 years. I worked a flexible schedule for almost 5 years to spend time with the boys and Kev, and then a year ago took a position in the Pediatric Emergency Dept. I just love it, I do believe that it is what and where I am supposed to be. It's wierd when you have that feeling....this is just the right thing for me. My schedule is changing. I had to give my permission for it to be so...and it took me nearly 2 weeks to confirm. I wanted all my T's crossed and all my i's dotted. I have so many scenerios for childcare figured out, down to the fact that Kev and I conflict 17 times a year! A little "anal" as my Mom told me yesterday, who plans for a whole year away she said.....I DO!!! Anyway, I am pressing on, and maybe calling on a few of you for help because now I will work some Fridays and Saturdays...and babysitters are REALLY expensive these days! Thanks for letting me vent..I feel better already.

TO ALL YOU BLOG HOPPERS OUT THERE: THAT IS THOSE OF YOU WHO READ THIS BUT NEVER LEAVE ME A COMMENT....COME ON...LEAVE ME A COMMENT EVERYONCE IN AWHILE!!!! SO I DON'T FEEL LIKE I AM TALKING TO MYSELF.....OH WAIT....I AM!!!

These Hands

These hands....they are busy...touching, pushing, picking, pinching, writing, painting and holding. I love these hands...They make me crazy and overwhelmed at times, because they never stop, at least until 8 pm! These little hands resemble mine, and everytime I look at them, I just have to smile.

You Learned What? Today?

Yep...we started swimming lessons today, the boys had a blast! In their first lesson they learned how to do something I never have.....hold their breath under water. Most of you have never had the honor of seeing me swim...but growing up, our parents had a pool. Ben and I swam all the time. I ALWAYS had to plug my nose. I took years of lessons, swam daily for years, and still I had to plug my nose. A nose plug at 32 doesn't have quite the same look as it did for me at 10....So I am so proud...my boys put their faces in the water...and don't have to plug their noses! They are ALREADY better than their Mom!!!!

Girlfriends...?! What?!

Yes, apparently it is true. Both of my boys claimed in the car ride to school today that they do infact, have GIRLFRIENDS! " What? " I exclaimed....my precious little boys are just starting their lives.... "you don't like girls do you?" To that they both laughed and yelled "YES". I found out Friday from our neighbor that Ian no longer rides the bus with his 2 friends, he "saves" a seat for his girlfriend. Ian admits to holding hands (YIKES) and "she kisses my cheek sometimes." ARE YOU SERIOUS!!! This is totally killing me. Kevin tells me to just relax, I'll make it worse by being overly interested. Her name apparently is Hailynn. He told me to stop asking him "questions about her." I let my little boy go to Kindergarten, and not only was that rough...now this. And Gav tells me that his girlfriend "Is Emily", and I know Emily and her family, but that doesn't make it ANY better. And that he "gives her lots of hugs." Really! Then he ends the conversation with "Mom, I have LOTS of girlfriends. They all chase me and I like them ALL." I am going to lock the doors, until they are 30....seriously........

Halloween Night!

I am pretty much a traditionalist...I grew up trick-or-treating...so it's the thing my kids do! And this year they were REALLY into it. Kevin had the day off, I worked a 8 hour day...so we were all home. Kevin has worked the last 2 Halloweens, so he was excited to be a part of the madness this year! Our close friends Kevin & Torri brought their girls over...with all the kissing by Gavin, we may be related someday! And we all had a blast! Well...Torri and I did! We visited and stayed warm watching all 300+trick-or-treaters come in 1.5 hours...it was fun. Our kids are so cute! Check them out! The boys chaperoned the kids...with CORONA in their hands "to keep warm"...I'm sure!:)
